Imagine walking around a magnificent 12th century Gothic style cathedral, one of the best in Spain. Imagine turning a corner and finding a shock of Baroque- El Transparente. The artists cut holes in the ceiling to let light shine on the back of the altar, and decorated that area, and the area around the cut out whole, with gleefully Baroque over the top art. Angels, putti, gold, silver, stucco, bronze all contrast sharply with the gothic rest of the cathedral. Sort of like finding an old spinster maid suddenly standing up and doing rap.
