After flying into Jackson Hole, we rented a car and drove by the Grand Tetons on our way to the southern entrance to Yellowstone.

Spent the night in Sandpoint, Idaho, where this girl frolicked in the public fountain. The next day drove to Spokane for our flight home.

We spent the whole time in the old lodge at Many Glacier, in the far northeast corner of the park. Build in 1914, again by the railroads to bring tourists in, it sits on swiftcurrent lake.

There were moose, mainly female and calves, all over the area. This pair entered the water and swam across the lake just in front of the hotel.

In Glacier, we stayed in the upper eastern part of the park, in an area called "Many Glacier". The drive was filled with vistas of the mountains soaring to the west.

There are hundreds of grizzlies and black bears in the park. We only saw a couple of black bears- the grizzlies usually come down later in the summer to feast on berries in the valleys.

The cavern descends several hundred feet. More than other caverns I have visited, this one felt the most crude, with dark stairs, low ceilings for many passages.

Castle geyser is named for it's huge cone. It erupts every 10-12 hours, but it erupts for 20 minutes, followed by a 30 minute steam eruption. Quite a show
