Jonathan Siegel (JSBird) > After landing in Madrid, we went directly to Cordoba by hight speed train. This is our hotel in Cordoba, just around the corner from the Mesquita
Jonathan Siegel (JSBird) > Streets are so narrow cars that did not fold their mirrors in tended to scrape the walls
Jonathan Siegel (JSBird) > It was so hot that Ben even stooped once to drink water. Mostly he drank orange soda
Jonathan Siegel (JSBird) > The courtyards are cool and inviting. People spend a lot of time here, as evidenced by the TV set
Jonathan Siegel (JSBird) > The old synagogue from the 11th century. This was where the philosopher Maimonedes lived
Jonathan Siegel (JSBird) > The Mesquita- this ancient mosque, started in the 9th century, had a church dropped into the middle of it by the reconquering Christians.
Jonathan Siegel (JSBird) > The mesquita lit up at night. We spent one night there, mainly to see the lovely mesquita.
Jonathan Siegel (JSBird) > Imagine a huge square mosque, supported by thousands of pillars. To put the church in the middle, some of the walls used the moorish pillars for support
