Jonathan Siegel (JSBird) > Youngsters putting on T'fillin. These are boxes with prayers in them, wrapped with leather cords around the arm and the skull. This practice comes from Deuteronomy: in the same passage that commands us to revere the words of God by putting them "on the doorposts of our house" (also known as a Mezuza), the verse continues by commanding us to put them (God's words) before our eyes and upon our arms.

Jonathan Siegel (JSBird) > One powerful part of the museum was this 2 acre monument, dug from the limestone, roughly in the contour of Europe. On the walls, in approximate proper geographic location, are the names of the nearly 5,000 Jewish communities that disappeared during the Holocaust.
