Recent excavation of the part of the western retaining wall just south of THE Western Wall. The road at the base was built by Herod. When the Romans destroyed the city, they tore down the Temple's walls above, pushing huge blocks off of the top, cracking and buckling the road below. Some of the debris and buckling is still visible
